Married At First Sight Australia’s risque ‘intimacy week’ episode was the show’s raciest ever – but it was no match for Oprah’s interview with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry in Monday night’s ratings.

The explosive tell-all, which aired on Channel Ten, attracted 1,366,000 viewers in Australian capital cities alone.

Combined with regional ratings, it absolutely dominated Monday night with 1,783,000 viewers, leaving MAFS in the dust.

Despite bringing in sultry sexologist Alessandra Rampolla to initiate erotic interactions between the couples, the newly aired episode of Married At First Sight drew just 804,000 in the five city metro ratings.

MAFS slid a little past one million with regional viewers added – but still came in third, behind Seven News at second, with 1,581,000.

In the United States, the bombshell interview was watched by 17.1 million viewers on CBS.

Channel Nine hedged their bets on the risque contents of their ‘intimacy week’ episode which saw newlyweds Booka Nile and Brett Helling encouraged to explore their racy sides.

During the episode, Booka sucks her moaning groom’s finger before placing him in pink handcuffs and walking out wearing racy black lace lingerie.

She then playfully instructed Brett to ‘go to bed’ in a Russian accent, before admitting she had enjoyed tying up previous partners, leaving them with ‘no control’.

The episode wasn’t entirely a hit with the viewers who did watch – when newlyweds Belinda Vickers and Patrick Dwyer had their first intimacy training session, those watching at home called the exchanges a ‘car crash’ and ‘cringe’.

The pair were advised to gaze into each other’s eyes for several minutes straight, while standing close and holding hands, to spend 10 minutes kissing, and have a ‘melted hug’, which saw them press their bodies against each other.

The smooching session proved too much for Patrick, who compared the length of the effort to cooking chicken.

‘That’s a long time. Like, 10 minutes is a long time to just make out. You can cook chicken in 10 minutes, so it’s a long time,’ he said.
