Conor McGregor‘s fall from grace in the world of UFC has reached new depths after he toppled out of the pound-for-pound rankings.

The Irishman is arguably the biggest name in the sport but has lost two of his last three fights, meaning he has been unable to hold onto a place among the top 15 fighters.

McGregor’s last defeat, at the hands of Dustin Poirier in January, means in the latest rankings update he has been replaced at No 15 by Aljamain Sterling, who beat Peter Yan at UFC 259 last weekend.

McGregor remains seventh in the lightweight rankings – behind Khabib Nurmagomedov, Dustin Poirier, Justin Gaethje, Charles Oliveira, Michael Chandler and Tony Ferguson – but faces a battle to get back on the pound-for-pound list.

As it stands, Khabib still tops the overall rankings, with Jon Jones and Kamaru Usman behind him.

Israel Adesanya’s place at No 3 was lost with his shock defeat by Jan Blachowicz, with the light heavyweight defeat knocking him to sixth. The victor, meanwhile, moves up six places to eighth.

Despite being dealt his rankings blow, McGregor will perhaps not be too disappointed given the news this week that he has more than doubled his net worth by selling the remaining stake in his whiskey company.

The Notorious is said to be set to rake in £112million by selling the rest of Proper Twelve in a Mexican takeover to Becle, taking his personal value to nearly £200m.

In UFC news, meanwhile, McGregor is ‘ready to roll’ and wants a trilogy fight with Poirier having lost to him last time out, according to Dana White.

The UFC supremo has compared the Irishman’s comeback to blockbuster movie Rocky III, but it is not yet confirmed whether the bout will take place.
